Precision Stunt Kite Flying

Kite Surfing

Kite surfing kites are specially designed to lift people out of the waves.

Kites can also tow skiers uphill.

    1. We tried different ways of making the kite and we tried adjusting the places where the string was.

    2. Having all the materials we need and building a kite that worked

    6. We managed to think of a idea that was what we could make in the time we had. Even though our first idea didn't work, we thought of a new idea that we are happy with.

  2. Describe one challenge you encountered in your first kite design/building session and explain how you overcame it.

    1. The kite didn't fly because it wasn't straight/supported/balanced so we had to put more string on it,yet it still wouldn't work so we tried making three more kites.

    2. my kite didnt work because our box kite couldnt get the air through the sides and the wind pushed it down and so we had to cut the sides of the plastic to make it work.

    3. We were going to make a fish kite, but we didn't have anything to make a circle out of. So we had to change the kite into something else. We made our kite a completely different shape because that way we had a better idea of what to make and how to make it. Our new model is going to be a kite that is made with all the supplies that we have access to.

    5. Great detail Julia, Myro, and Ashley! Sounds like you are thinking flexibly about how to solve these problems.

  3. Which habit of mind have you used most in your kite design/building so far?
Which habit of mind might you need most in your next session and why?

    2. the habbit of mind we have used the most is THINKING ABOUT THKNKING because we had to think about how we are going to make it. Our next habbit of mind we are hoping to use is make it right because it needs to be symetrical to fly up up and away. - Lily and Amber

    1. Making all the kite stable and making it look better and what what type of material will work and have tails to make it fly better for diamond kites.

    2. cutting off the parts of the stick which is to long and making a triangle hole

    1. Good thinking Carlos, a tail adds weight to a kite and helps stabilise it in the air. You might experiment with the length and weight of the tail to find what works best. Please remember to proofread your comments.
