This week's reading comprehension challenge asks us to consider the extermination of rats in New Zealand. We will read the article together in class and work independently to answer the comprehension questions in our literacy books.

A HOM that they could use for clearing rats of the islands is thinking flexibly because they have to think wisely on how to stop all the rats coming in from ships and different islands. Maybe they could get a smell that the rats do not like.-Sophia.S

DeleteOne habit of mind that can be used to successfully remove rats from islands is persistence, as it will take time to eventually reach the goal of removing all rats. Thinking flexibly to be smart about how you kill the rats, be careful about the land around it and not damaging other animals. -Inaki
ReplyDeletefor wiping a island full of rats i would recommend using the habit of mind thinking flexibly because you might also have an island fall of native animals so you you would have to think of ways to poison the rats without killing of the native animals.

A habit of mind that rat catchers could use is listening. You would need to listen to experts and their advice so you can decide on the best decision to exterminate the rats. Before you take action you need to listen to every opinion and research so you know all the facts. Another habit of mind is creating and innovating because you would need to make a plan that solves the problem that nobody else might of thought of and it could be a difficult solution or the simplest one.
